This is what I will be wearing to my socially distanced BBQ5th Aug 2020
This summer is all about socially distanced BBQs and garden parties, and if you’re anything like us and have been living in PJs since March, you’ll be ready to fully embrace any excuse to dress up. Overdressed is no longer in my vocabulary! So these are the dresses, blouses and outfits I’ll be wearing this summer, from comfy, cool and sustainable to a show stopping garden party dress.
Sadly our UK climate isn’t quite the same as LA, meaning that a dress isn’t always the best option, so for those chillier days we’ll be pulling out this complete Boyish get up, cause you can’t go wrong with a t-shirt and jeans! This isn’t just any t-shirt and jeans, these wardrobe staples are made using eco-friendly fabrics, recycled cotton and Refibra™ Technology which takes fashion industry scraps and recycles the waste, lessening the carbon footprint and water usage of these items. Boyish is the ultimate #buylessbuybetter brand, these investments will live in your wardrobe for years to come.
Designed to be worn low on the hip, Xirena's Nolan shorts are a great addition to any wardrobe and a perfect casual garden outfit for any occasion, whilst also being just long enough to be office appropriate for those of us easing back into working days. We’ll be pairing ours with the Kyra tank for a head to toe Xirena look. The Kyra tank is made from a soft cotton poplin, featuring adjustable straps and a tie front, the Kyra will be your go to all summer long.
There’s nothing quite like an easy breezy BBQ dress and the Maren is just the perfect option. Short and swingy, Xirena's Maren dress is cut from the brand's iconic chelsea gauze and packs a super pretty punch in zesty orange. Cut to sit at the knee, with a ruffled skirt and tie waist, we'll be living in this dress as summer sets in. Perfect for a relaxed garden party outfit and comfortable beach coverup alike.
Us girls know that there isn’t an occasion where a nice top and jeans isn’t a go-to. Our top choice is the stunning January Top by Astr, new for summer 2020. With its totally on-trend square neckline, pretty fluted sleeve, smocked bodice and romantic floral print this top will work hard all season long. Paired with the Boyish Jeans Kirby, one of the brand's best selling shapes, in an updated bright white wash perfect for sunny days.
If you’re looking for a garden party dress to make a statement, look no further than Staud’s Tangier Dress in this gorge zingy coral. Cut from sustainable recycled tissue nylon, with its full sleeve, drawstring cut out front and full skirt this maxi will be a vibrant addition to any summer wardrobe. We love that you can wear the Tangier in different ways; not wanting to reveal as much flesh? The drawstring can be left looser for a more covered up look.
Remember if you're taking public transport over to your bbq destination, or stocking up on essentials, you should be wearing a face mask as per the government guidelines here in the UK.
