Twiin’s Top 5 Summer Bottoms29th Jun 2020
As summer is quickly approaching and London is heating up, we’re browsing our favourite summer bottoms from L.A.’s hottest brands. From airy linen, cute skirts and denim must-haves.
With some of us slowly making our way back into offices, meaning we have to actually dress our lower halves, we’re reaching for the Staud Sage Short. Made from 90% rayon, these summer shorts feel as lightweight and breathable as linen, whilst being smart enough for any office without any potential of overheating on the tube! Wear with the matching jacket for a relaxed tailored look, on-trend for this season, or a simple white tee and slides for a laid back look.
The Milan Biker Shorts in White Stone
These Cotton Citizen shorts are a total gamechanger. Whether you’re one to wear biker shorts and a sweater (a-la Princess Diana in the 1990s) or just looking for a way to wear your fave summer dresses without the worry of flashing passersby in the wind! Once you have a pair we guarantee you’ll find yourself reaching for them all the time!
The Bettina Trousers in Flax Linen
Even in the hottest summer months, sometimes shorts and skirts just aren’t as comfortable as we’d like (hello, ever had your thighs stick to a chair thanks to the heat?!) and that’s when we turn to our trusty linen trousers. These breathable summer trousers are in a wide leg relaxed fit, you’ll think you’re still in your lockdown pjs!
The Monty Shorts in Miss Julie
Now listen, in the summer months we all love a pair of denim shorts; easy to dress up or down and they look great with anything, they’re a wardrobe staple! The only issue for us (just us?) is the inevitable sore, chafing thighs... not cute! This is where The Monty Shorts come in. These slightly longerline shorts are the dream length to prevent any uncomfortable rubbing whilst avoiding the look of Bermuda shorts which can be a little difficult to pull off. We’ll be wearing ours with the LA tee by Delfi.
Astr's Nava skirt is a sweet addition to any summer wardrobe. Bias cut with a satin finish and chevron pattern, this romantic style is elevated thanks to its acidic green shade, making it look just as good with chunky trainers as it looks with strappy heels. The Nava is definitely our ultimate summer skirt for 2020.
The Clara Skirt in Multi
As our summers slowly start to look like they’re un-cancelled, Delfi Collective is once again offering the perfect option for that last minute holiday or event (any excuse for a stunning new piece!). The Clara Skirt is a metallic, pleated skirt with a floral print that we’ll be dressing up with the Eva Blouse also from Delfi.
The Cody Denim Shorts in For Me and My Gal
The classic pair of summer shorts will forever be a pair of perfectly deconstructed denim cut offs. Our pick, The Cody by Boyish, are a high-waistedshort-short in a medium with a raw hem. Better yet, they’re now on sale for £65 reduced from £130, meaning you can invest in an incredible eco-conscious brand this summer without breaking the bank.
With its vibrant patchwork print, swingy skirt, button through front and side pockets (necessary in every skirt and dress please) Xirena's Teagan skirt has to be on our top list of bottoms as one of our go-to summer long skirts! The Teagan has a nostalgic flavour to it that we can't get enough of, perfect for warmer days and happier times!
The Toby in Gilda
Of course, in London we’re not lucky enough to live through non-stop sun throughout the summer months so our jeans are definitely not getting packed away anytime soon. The Boyish Jeans "Toby" is the ultimate 90s revival cut, perfect for a comfy daytime look with a baggy cropped tee (like the Tokyo by Cotton citizen) or an evening out with strappy heels and blouse.
We have to admit we have a serious soft spot for Staud’s pieces. From their eye-catching and easy to wear dresses, to their impeccable contemporary take on suiting in candy coloured shades like the Bruco Pant! Made from a relaxed linen blend these high waisted pants feature a wide leg & front pleats for ultimate comfort without compromising on style.
